As the host of Open Mike, Canada’s first truly successful nightly talk show, Mike Bullard immediately became a major force in the late-night talk show arena. The Gemini award-winning series was the most-watched late-night talk show in Canada's largest market, comparable in popularity and success to late-night heavyweights David Letterman and Jay Leno.

A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Bullard enjoyed a successful management career for over 20 years at Bell Canada before realizing his true calling was stand-up comedy. He performed more than 1,400 gigs in his spare time before making the leap into show business and becoming one of Canada’s most-recognized celebrities. Bullard is a multi-disciplinary comic who has published a book, Open Book: Little Thoughts from a Big Head (Doubleday), and has also recorded a CD, Stick 2 Comedy (BMG). Recognized as “Favourite Talk Show Host” by the readers of TV Guide, Mike Bullard has come a long way from the grind of Canada's comedy club circuit, where for over a decade he cultivated a reputation as one of the quickest and cleverest club wits in the country.

Open Mike debuted in November of 1997 on The Comedy Network and went on to be picked up by the CTV network in 1998. The nightly show featured a mix of celebrity guests from the worlds of film, television, stage, sports, music and politics from both sides of the border. Open Mike became a huge success and ran for six unprecedented seasons, becoming one of the longest-running late-night talk shows in North America. The show won the Gemini award in 1999 for Best Talk Information Series and in 2001 for Best Music Variety Program Series along with the 2000 Hugo Award (Gold Medal) for Best Talk Show at the Chicago International Television Festival. Bullard was also voted one of the top 10 Funniest Canadians in a nationwide poll by TV Guide in 2002.

Mike Bullard returned to his stand-up roots in 2004 and has been making people laugh across the country on television, at live performances, and hosting corporate events. In 2009 he branched out from TV Host to Radio Personality and joined the Astral team, a leading Canadian media company. Bullard launched his new one-hour radio show, Beyond the Mic with Mike Bullard, in September 2010 on Toronto’s NEWSTALK 1010, Canada’s top radio talk station.

Mike Bullard dedicates much of his spare time to working with community fund-raisers and numerous charitable organizations such as The United Way, Juvenile Diabetes, Sick Kids Hospital, Oakville Hospital, Trillium Hospital, as well as various Peel Regional and Metro Toronto police charities. In 2010, he received the “Man of the Year” award from the CNIB and Walter Gretzky Foundation.
